Peach Day at the Market, sponsored by the S.C. Peach Council and the S.C. Department of Agriculture, will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012. For a designated time during the day, every visitor at the Farmers’ Shed will get a free peach to enjoy.

Mexico opens to South Carolina, Georgia peaches    August 3, 2011

Growers in South Carolina and Georgia are now allowed to ship peaches to Mexico. The U.S. and Mexico struck a deal in February that allows the two southeastern states to join California as peach exporters to Mexico, said Alyn Kiel, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.

South Carolina Peach Festival Underway    July 14, 2011

The SC Peach Festival for 2011 began in Gaffney on Thursday at 9am with an opening ceremony and peach dessert contest. A cold treat calls out on a hot day    July 10, 2011

Riding down the Maye River Road, also known as S.C. 46, a couple of days ago I noticed the sign at Cahill’s Market proclaiming “Homemade Peach Ice Cream” calling to me. I love ice cream and peach is, I think maybe, my very favorite. Georgia peaches for many years were the believed to be the very best. Since making a home in South Carolina over these twenty plus years I have switched to an absolute belief that our South Carolina peaches have no equal. Anyhow, I vowed to stop on my way home and partake of the delectable delight.
